Modern Waterfalls

The Modern Waterfall is the most popular type of waterfall.

It’s generally made out of masonry stone, pavers, slabs, tiles, granite, or natural stone. It’s simply a waterfall that is not required to be tethered to any one thing, it can practically go anywhere on your property. They’re easy to maintain, and they have a timeless look to them.

Importantly though, it can be attached to your patio, fireplace, cabana, pergola, or retaining wall (as seen in the pictures below). As such, there are numerous ways to customize and build a freestanding-modern waterfall and they’re highly practical landscape features!

The most popular method is that you build a waterfall with a retaining wall (as seen below).

Nature-Infused Waterfalls

Nature-Infused Waterfalls had their golden era pre-2010 until they were overtaken by modern waterfalls, now they’re quite uncommon. Nature-Infused Waterfalls are crafted into the landscape of the property, and it has a natural infusion effect – as if it was always existing in its location and not made by humans.

The more softscaping you do around them, the more they’re known to attract some critters. They’re also not the easiest to maintain due to their more complicated, delicate, and softscaped structure. These are waterfalls for those who want to maximize their relationship with nature and create a gorgeous natural feel on their property.
